    This is an amazing book covering a breathtaking breadth of topics. All explained in great detail. It is loaded with the stuff you can go on bragging about knowing. Anybody looking at the one * ratings should keep in mind that almost all of them seems to be done with a political bias by someone who hates the Author’s political views and just doesnt say anything about the subject or the content of this book.

    Republican supply-side economist Arthur Laffer said this book is "amazingly rich in wisdom, practicality, and insight" and is "a fascinating deep read" regardless of your politics. Pulitzer prize-winning biologist E. O. Wilson said this is a "great book" – and that the only other person he could imagine having written a book of this magnitude is Thomas Jefferson. And it is a fabulous book – fair-minded, profound, and broad in scope. So if a few sad people just want to hate on Al Gore, well, that's all they know how to do. But don't let them stop you from buying this remarkable book.

    Al Gore, regardless whether you agree or disagree, makes very thoughtful intelligent arguments for the potential outcomes given the facts of the Internet, cloning, cross border economics, etc., all of which play an ever increasing role in the functioning of our species. It is bewildering to me that some do not see the outsize risk of ignoring the observations vs. deciding embrace their possibility and plan accordingly. For example the global warming, controversy, ok, may be the unintended consequence of 150 of industrialization is not an increase of concomitant non biological compounds, and higher Co2 content... may- be it is an odd coincidence of perfect cosmic timing...May- be ... But the downside of ignoring the possibility that global warming is a real consequence, is meaningfully higher to life as we know it vs. taking it as a potential real threat and then planning measures to mitigate the impact accordingly... I.e. Once Miami is potentially underwater - to be dramatic - it will be a bit late...as it will when the on the Atlantic ocean ecosystem begins to mix with northern arctic waters that have never mixed before. Politics has nothing to do with this book ... This book is about probable vs. more remote outcomes and possibilities...of events shifting our species society and economies ....

    Your place in history may be known as the writer and compiler of this book. It is probably fortunate that you were not President and were able to take that time to write this book. Unfortunately the American people at large are not willing or capable of digesting and comprehending your writings. I was surprised that my favorite interviewer of all time, Charlie Rose, seemed so dismissive of your work on a recent interview. If Charlie could not appreciate your work how could we ever expect our governmental leaders to comprehend these concepts. Charlie did a marvelous job with his brain series. I would like to see him take this book chapter by chapter and do the same. J Dale Simmons, MD

    This book is an education! I learned so much that is not reported on the news: advances in technology, politics, climate, psychology, genetics and more. The introduction reads a bit like a text book, a little dry, but the book itself is chock full of information. I've been reading many books like this, trying to find an answer to today's problems and solutions for them. This book brings it all together. A message for all you nay sayers out there- your ignorance will be your undoing. AlJazeera is an excellent news source. Have you ever watched it? It's news like it used to be. They have minute to minute reporting on world events. If they acquire video of an event that has not as yet been substantiated they will tell you. They have fascinating documentaries about people all over the world trying to make a difference. Mr. Gore should be commended for trying to bring that type of reporting back to the U. S. You should keep an open mind. You should investigate before you report. You should not believe anything you see on tv. It is all slanted towards corporate goals. I knew this before I read THE FUTURE. Read the book!
